The Amazing Adventures of Reg

When I at least get a bachelor's degree, I am going to set off on my quest of creating a TV show of Mark and Joshua. My fantasy is that it would air on [Adult Swim], that is, if they're still any good by then. It's campy enough for them, right? I mean, look at the Venture Bros. (love that show, by the way).

But I got another idea yesterday. You know Calvin and Hobbes, right? Remember Calvin's daydreams, like Spaceman Spiff? Well, Joshua has a daydream that he turns into a comic called The Amazing Adventures of Reg (we're working on it), about a teenage superhero with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), who can fly but is afraid of heights, is timid, and very clumsy. He has a mentor (superheros must have mentors, in my book) who forces him to be a superhero.

I show the comic within the Mark and Joshua comics. I think it's a really funny idea and would lend itself better to television. Reg also has a love interest, a pyro named Dragon Boy (the names are supposed to be lame). His real name is Thadeus

Don't call him Thad, he breathes fire.

I want to do a series with them, but I already have Mark and Joshua, a graphic novel, and a collection of short stories I'm working on. I have so many ideas! So it'll remain in Mark and Joshua for now. I think. Maye I'll take a break from Mark and Joshua and do that this summer. It'll be a graphic novel of a bunch of shorts, like 20-25 pages long.

I made up one villain, who I kill pretty quickly, called Dark Knight. Reg has to dispose of the body. It's really morbid comedy, right here. I need to come up with a better villain. Any ideas? I'm thinking a woman.

Dragon Boy is also an asshole with a sweet inside (maybe he's grouchy because his name is Thadeus...). He's the antithesis of Reg, which I always find funny in a couple. He also smokes, which I see as self-destructive behavior. Reg should get him to quit. I did research on smoking yesterday for a story I'm writing. It's grosser than I thought.

But he can use his fire breath as a lighter! It's awesome!
